Orphan Outreach

“I cannot say enough (good things) about the support, leadership, and excellence that MMI provides for those of us in the missions field.”

Orphans Full of Distress
Many Ukrainian children live in state-run orphanages and emerge as non-Christians who lack societal survival skills. Most are emotionally, physically, and mentally scarred especially since many have been taken from parents who cannot support them. Unfortunately, of the orphans released(2005) from these state-run institutions:

  • 40% become addicts
  • 40% commit crimes
  • 80% of boys are imprisoned
  • 35% of girls become prosititutes

 Orphans Full of Hope
Orphans begin the healing process in the loving, safe environment provided in the orphanages managed by resident Mountain Mover, Matt McGowen. We try to develop respect, trust, compassion, sharing, and hope within the hearts of the orphans. This is done by teaching them how to deal with peer pressure, authority, and conflict. Additionally, orphans are taught about improved health care, lessons about personal values, and friendship. The goal of these orphanages is to equip the children with the skills neccessary to survive and thrive after leaving the orphanage, and part-time work is provided for older students.
